Downtown Development Steering Committee

This morning at the City Council meeting the councilors voted on the resolution establishing the composition and objective of a Downtown Development Steering Committee.

The committee will be comprised of 11 voting members which will include 2 board members from Downtown Wichita Falls Development, Inc., 2 board members of the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce, 2 members of the Wichita Falls 4B Sales Tax Corporation and 2 downtown property owners that are not on the board of Downtown Wichita Falls Development, Inc. organization. The committee will be headed by the Mayor plus 2 City Councilors. On this committe will also be representatives of the City Manager's Office, City Community Development Department, Public Works Department, Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Traffic and Transportation, Parks and Recreation Department, Legal Department, Public Information Office, the Director of Downtown Wichita Falls Development, President of the Chamber of Commerce, and Director of the Wichita County Heritage Society.


The Committee will be charged with four main action items to be performed within an 18 month period. Periodic reports will be made to the Council at scheduled meetings. These meetings will be opened to the public.
