Jana Schmader Selected As New Executive Director
Downtown Wichita Falls Development has selected Jana Schmader as its new executive director. She will replace the last executive director of DWFD, Cynthia Laney, who retired from the organization in October.
Schmader, a native of Wichita Falls, graduated with a bachelor of Business Administration from Midwestern State University, where she began her career as Marketing Coordinator of the Dillard College of Business. Upon leaving MSU, Schmader joined the Arts Council Wichita Falls Area, Inc. and has maintained directorship for over 5 years.
She is a wife, mother of two, and a volunteer for DWFD for the past 3 years serving on the Art & Soul committee and more recently the marketing subcommittee for the Downtown Development Steering Committee.
Dusty Potter, president of the Board of Directors for DWFD, said he is looking forward to working with Schmader. "We've been watching the great work Jana has been doing at The Forum over the last few years, and were blown away by her passion and vision for downtown Wichita Falls in the interview process," Potter said. "Mixing the amount of momentum behind the movement with her impressive skill set will no doubt make downtown Wichita Falls the destination we would all like to see."
Schmader will begin her new role on Monday, January 22, 2018.

From housing to offices, to restaurants and nightlife, to arts and culture - downtown is a common place for us to celebrate our community. Our board and staff are deeply committed to the continued progress and we invite you to join the movement too.
